In the field of Private Investigations aimed at gathering information requested by private citizens, the AIRO Investigative Institute offers its resources and expertise for the protection and safeguarding of minors' interests.

Parental control

Wrong friendships, bullying, alcohol and drug consumption: these are just some of the cases where strengthening control over minors at risk might become necessary to protect their interests.
Knowledge of sector regulations and access to technological means and specific expertise make it essential, in all these cases, to seek the assistance of an Investigative Agency.

From this point of view, Italian law allows it, specifying that the private investigator is authorized "to discover and document the behavior of the young person, even for facts that can be illustrated in court."

In these situations, the parent is often unaware of the young person's behavior, but may harbor suspicions. During adolescence, children tend to hide what they do from their parents.
A private investigator, through specific skills acquired over the years, knows how to proceed to observe the minor's behavior within their circle of acquaintances, study their habits, and assess their associations.
The most commonly used techniques for this purpose are stakeouts and tailing, where it is possible to document the young person's behavior through photos and videos.

The use of a private investigator can not only be justified but also recommended for two reasons:

  • the impartiality and balanced judgment of a professional or, in any case, of a person outside the family, which the parent, due to their emotional involvement, could not guarantee;
  • the possibility of dispelling or confirming, with certainty, a doubt that could undermine and compromise the relationship between parents and children.

Child custody

Another situation involving minors that requires the assistance of a private investigator concerns the custody of the child or children.

In the case of separated and non-cohabiting parents, parental responsibility for minor children is divided according to the judge's provisions, who decides with a reasoned order.
If the rule, starting from 2006, is to prefer joint custody of the offspring, a 2013 reform strengthened the cases in which it is possible, in particular situations, to resort to sole custody by one of the parents.
This provision aims to protect the exclusive interest of the minor, who is thus subjected to the control and care of the parent deemed suitable to provide for them, while the non-custodial parent retains only certain visitation rights and the power to contribute to only the most significant decisions for the child's life.

It is not uncommon for parents to disagree on the child custody arrangements established by the judge during separation, thus considering it appropriate for the judge to intervene again on the matter.

It is possible, for example, for one of the parents to request sole custody of the minor when they ascertain that the behavior of the other is not suitable to protect the child's interest.

In these cases, proving in court the facts that form the basis of one's claim is particularly difficult.

The involvement of the interests of a subject under the age of 18, in fact, necessitates consulting an expert authorized to carry out this type of investigative activity.

The licensed private investigator will be able to carry out all necessary activities for the collection of evidence and documents, including photographic and audiovisual, to support and demonstrate their procedural position.
