The Private Investigator
A Private Investigator is a natural person who has been granted a Police License by the Prefecture where the subject has established the operational headquarters, to carry out Private Investigation activities.
The requirements to become a Private Investigator, as provided by DM 269/2010 and art. 134 and subsequent of the TULPS, are very stringent:
- to hold a degree in Investigation Sciences or equivalent;
- to have worked for at least three years in an operational role with a Private Investigator or alternatively have served in investigative units of the Police Forces, for a period not less than five years;
- to have obtained a certificate related to a University specialization course in Private Investigations and Commercial Information;
- not to have been convicted of non-negligent crimes;
- to demonstrate suitable economic-financial and organizational capacity.
The activity of a Private Investigator can be conducted in the form of a sole proprietorship or in the more structured form of a partnership or corporation.
AIRO is a structured joint-stock company operating through employed personnel, regularly hired and reported for elementary investigative assignments (C.I.I.E.) to the Prefecture, the competent authority that issued the authorization titles.
